About

Catherine is an Asheville native, residing for most of her life in Western North Carolina. A teller for six years, the most frequently-heard accolade is “She paints a picture with her words”.
Her portfolio contains Appalachian and Yiddish folk tales, historical fiction, personal narrative, and piquant observations on human and animal behavior.
Catherine has appeared on Asheville’s Front Porch, TELLABRATION!™, Weaverville Community Center, the Hendersonville Center for Art and Culture, the Mountain Makin’s Festival, the Mary Martin stage at the International Storytelling Center, three historical sites in Northeastern Tennessee, churches, synagogues, the Buncombe County Library System in conjunction with the Asheville Art Museum, and business and therapeutic venues. She holds membership and board positions with the Jonesborough Storytellers’ Guild and the Asheville Storytelling Circle.
Catherine’s Fall 2024 book is titled “An Appalachian Life: A Storyteller’s Perspective”.
How does a Christmas Tree grower, nurserywoman, mental health therapist, grant writer, Tennessee homesteader, world traveler, and philanthropist become a storyteller?
Well, these experiences have to go somewhere!
