Bobby went out on the porch and sat down on the
front steps, pondering everything his mother had said.
He was happy the two families had some connection,
but he was puzzled by his mother’s sadness. He also
knew he had never seen a sister at school with her
brothers. A sister who would be in the grade below
him. Where was she? More curiosity and more unanswered
questions. He didn’t think to call anyone for
supper.
He was deep in thought when his mother came
out. “Little Bobby! Do I need to get a switch?”
